ABOUT KEISHAN

Keishan Scott is a proud Bishopville native representing South Carolina House District 50 – Kershaw, Lee, and Sumter Counties.
A first-generation college graduate, Keishan earned degrees from Central Carolina Technical College in Sumter and the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work. As a minister, paralegal, and former Bishopville City Councilman, Keishan has spent his life in service to his community.
In June 2025, District 50 made history by electing Keishan Scott in a special election, making him the youngest member of the South Carolina General Assembly and one of the youngest state legislators in the country. As your state representative, he works every day to uplift our community and build a stronger, more united South Carolina.

KEY PRIORITIES

ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE

No family in District 50 should have to drive an hour or skip a doctor’s visit because they can’t afford it. I’m committed to expanding access to quality, affordable health care across rural South Carolina. I strongly support Medicaid expansion to provide coverage for working families.
QUALITY EDUCATION

Every child deserves a great public school education, no matter their ZIP Code. As a proud product of public education, strengthening our schools has been at the heart of my work in the state legislature – including my work to get a law passed to finally move Lee County to nonpartisan school board elections. I’ll keep fighting for more resources for our teachers and students.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

I’m focused on building pathways to good-paying jobs right here in our community. Through education, skills training, partnerships with technical colleges, and support for our small businesses, we can ensure that our workforce is ready for the jobs of the 21st century.
IMPROVING OUR INFRASTRUCTURE

A Landmark Win
for Lee County Schools

For years, people in Lee County pushed to take partisanship out of our local school board. Lee was one of just 2 counties still holding partisan school board elections. This was my top priority during my first term in the State House, and I’m proud that we got it across the finish line.

My bill to reform how the Lee County School District Board of Trustees (H. 5653) passed the House and Senate unanimously and was signed into law by Governor Henry McMaster on May 19, 2026. It moves our school board to nonpartisan elections – because our kids’ education should be about what’s best for our kids, not party labels.
